01

Name the exact duty

State polymer flooding, drilling-fluid or produced-water treatment and the product function.

A generic oilfield PAM request cannot support a defensible recommendation.

02

Provide water and temperature

Include full water analysis, normal and upset ranges, operating temperature and oxygen control where relevant.

Identify whether samples can be shipped for confirmation.

03

Describe equipment

List make-down, pumps, filters, injection system, mud equipment or water separator.

Include shear, residence and known constraints.

04

State acceptance methods

Name viscosity conditions, filtration, shale, rheology, oil, solids or injectivity tests and limits.

Separate screening criteria from final field approval.

05

Identify current product and result

Provide code, form, active basis, concentration or dose, preparation and measured performance.

Include the difficult operating window, not only the normal case.

06

Request traceable samples

Require sample code, product identity, current COA, SDS and preparation guidance.

Link quotation and production supply to the approved code.

07

Define commercial requirements

State sample and monthly quantity, bag, pallet, marking, storage, destination, Incoterm and timing.

Compare delivered cost with the tested concentration or active use rate.

08

Set change control

Ask how specification or manufacturing changes are communicated and requalified.

Define incoming checks and who can approve a deviation.

09

Field interpretation and decision record

A useful RFQ allows a supplier to separate product families before quoting. Name the application as polymer flooding, water-based drilling fluid or produced-water treatment, then state the exact function. Add the water source and analysis, operating temperature, current product and preparation, equipment path and required measurement. For EOR, include viscosity, filtration and injectivity context. For drilling, provide the mud formulation and test methods. For produced water, name the separator and treated-water target.

Describe the trial and commercial scale separately. State sample quantity, laboratory schedule, field-trial quantity, estimated monthly demand, destination and requested delivery timing. Provide packing, pallet, marking and document requirements. Ask the supplier to identify the proposed product code and form rather than responding only with a broad chemical name. If multiple candidates are offered, request a clear reason and a screening sequence so the evaluation remains manageable.

Define acceptance evidence before comparing price. List the test procedure, reference product, water and temperature, conditioning, instrument and pass window. Ask for current COA and SDS associated with the proposed supply identity, plus preparation and storage guidance. Avoid requiring unsupported universal values when application evidence is the real decision driver. Pricing should be compared on a consistent delivered and active-product basis while accounting for consumption, make-down, filtration, handling and operating stability.

Preserve traceability after selection. The approved sample code, quotation, order and production supply should remain connected, and proposed changes should trigger disclosure and appropriate revalidation. Specify receiving checks such as packaging condition, lot documents, appearance and a reference solution or application test. Include the technical contact responsible for clarifications and the commercial contact for logistics. A complete RFQ does not guarantee field performance; it creates a defensible path from representative data to sample selection, controlled trial, documented acceptance and repeatable supply. Attach the final acceptance sheet to the purchase record so later lots can be compared against the same agreed evidence.
